About the poets…

April Lindner, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of English at St. Joseph’s University.  Her first book, Skin, won the Walt McDonald First Book Poetry Prize.  She has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, she has received an Ohio Arts Council Grant (2001) and a Praire Schooner Reader’s Choice Award (1992).  She is also the author of What the Heart Wants, a novel currently searching for publisher.

Anthony Palma was born and raised in West Chester, PA and, though he lived in Philadelphia for a while, he is now back in West Chester. He graduated from St. Joe’s in 2004 with a degree in English, and last spring he received his masters in English from Arcadia University. He has attended Mad Poets’ Society readings at a variety of area locales such as The Milkboy Café, The Gryphon and the Delaware County Institute of Science. He will be a featured reader on November 25th at the Steel City Coffee House in Phoenixville, PA. He has been published online, and once in print in the Mad Poets Review. He is currently teaching a poetry class for Chester County Night School and will be teaching for Immaculata University in their Accel program for adult learners. In addition, he is enjoying the beginning of his new life with his new wife, Brooke.

Brooke Palma grew up in Philadelphia, PA. She attended St. Joe’s as an English major and Fine Arts minor. Brooke was a writing fellow in the university’s Writing Center from 2002 to 2005.  She received her bachelor’s in English in May, 2005. In 2003 she placed in the annual Mad Poets Review contest for her poem ‘Settled’. She currently resides in West Chester, PA. Recently, Brooke has been dabbling in other forms of art, including ceramics and mosaics which have served as inspiration for her poems. Her favorite poet remains Billy Collins for his simply profound writing style. Brooke is looking forward to writing more poems, reading more poems and starting a new married life with Anthony.
