The Mad Poets Festival features five hours of short, 5-minute readings by more than 40 locally and nationally known poets, followed by a reception. Since 1987, we have proudly hosted this Festival on the first Sunday in October, in conjunction with the Media Food & Arts Festival, which packs State St. in downtown Media with a wide variety arts, crafts, live music, and fresh food.

To read your work at this special event: contact Eileen D’Angelo at [email protected] or use the contact form at the bottom of this page. Be sure to include FESTIVAL in the subject line. Sign up early. Space fills up fast!

The Mad Poets will publish a special collection of poetry from the poets who read at the Festival. If you register to read and are interested in being included in the Festival Anthology, send one poem in a separate email to [email protected] with ANTHOLOGY in the subject line. The Anthology will be sold at the Festival, and proceeds will benefit the Mad Poets Society.

The festival is a benefit for CityTeam Ministries!

Poets and attendees are asked to please bring a non-perishable food item and/or canned good(s) as your “ticket” for admission to the Mad Poets Festival.  All food will be donated to CityTeam Ministries, of Chester, Pa., which helps the poor and disadvantaged throughout the Delaware Valley by providing hot meals, safe shelter, decent clothing, and recovery programs.  In addition to the food drive, a representative from CityTeam will be dishing up warm & delicious chicken chili for a $1.00/cup donation.
