Below are the general submission policies and procedures for the Mad Poets Review.  If you are interested in submitting to our annual contest, please review the Contest Guidelines.

  1. The magazine reading period is from January 1 through August 15, 2009. Submissions received after 8/15/2009 will be returned.
  2. Submit one copy each of up to 6 poems, one poem per page.  Please do not submit more than 6 poems, and please do not send another submission until you have heard from us.  All themes and styles of poetry are welcome.  All rights revert to the author after publication.
  3. No line limit, but due to space limitations, long lines may have to be adjusted (with the author's permission and input on line breaks, if necessary).
  4. You may submit the same poems to the contest and the magazine.
  5. Include 2-3 sentences about yourself for the bio notes section.
  6. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for a response.  Poems without an SASE with adequate postage will not be returned or acknowledged.
  7. If the poem has previously been published, write information about prior publication directly on the poem.
  8. Send copies only.  Poems will not be returned.  No exceptions.
  9. There is no fee for submission to the magazine.
  10. Simultaneous submissions are accepted.  Notify us by email upon publication of a poem: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it so we can remove it from consideration.
  11. Mail to:  Mad Poets Review, MAGAZINE, PO Box 1248, Media, PA  19063-8248.
  12. We advise that if you are going to submit to the Mad Poets Review, you review our journal to see what kind of poetry we publish. We sometimes receive poetry that is totally inappropriate for our magazine, and it is obvious the poet does not know the Mad Poets Review. (Hint: "Mad" does not mean we are looking for crazy, nonsensical ramblings, or poets who are terminally ticked off.)
