On Sunday, May 19, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., the winners of the recent Young Poets Competition will read their winning poems at the Redwood Community Playhouse, 3704 6th Street, Upland Park, Upland, Delaware County, PA.  The recent contest was held throughout the Delaware County school and library system, has been running for 30 years, and is sponsored by several organizations including the Mad Poets Society, Delaware County Library System, the Keystone State Literacy Association, the Pennsylvania Poetry Society, and The Rose Tree Optimists Club.  There were approximately a thousand entries in the county-wide contest.

            Thirty-six student poets, 1st through 12th grade, will be honored from local school districts all over Delaware County.   The contest was judged by members of the Mad Poets Society including renowned area poets: Aaren Perry, Emiliano Martin, Richard S.Bank, Steve Delia, Brooke Palma, Deborah Fries, Stu O’Connor, Camille Nocella, Amy Barone,  Prabha Prabhu, Peter Baroth, and Ray Greenblatt. 

The readings will begin promptly at one.  The first, second and third place winners will read their award winning poems.

            Admission is free.  Come out and support these talented, fine young poets!
